I'm pretty sure he's talking about a game design perspective, not an "art of war" perspective. I think his premise (which I agree with) is that game options that promote aggressive/expansive tactics instead of passive/castle/"sim base" tactics are good, so he's trying to find financial options that support his premise. If you only gain money from equipment, you have to keep fighting to stay afloat financially.
Correction: With his idea you still gain some money with mines, but theoretically it isn't enough to support a very large operation.

Logistericthat would be HIS style of play, and surely not the sole/one and only way to do it
Of course; he said nothing to the contrary. He was asking about how he could modify his game, after all. One could just as easily create an opposite style by cranking up the mine income. You could then sit on Drassen until you had 24+ Level 9 mercs, then storm Meduna with your army of super soldiers.
Logisteric... btw, what on earth are 'mining costs' supossed to be, game-wise?
Well, he clearly meant "mine income" instead of "mining costs". If you're asking how they get money from their mines... I have no idea. The miners' stories aren't memorable to me, except for Dynamo's brother. I recall my wife being slightly startled by that guy's detail about the queen's men raping Dynamo's wife in front of him.

By "whole idea" I meant everything I've said in this post, not eternal truth.
Why do I bother posting all this? Because it is an idea, I hope to improve it by getting feedback. And perhaps, if someone is interested, I can save him valuable playing hours by telling what is a good balance between mine income and selling (IN MY OPINION!). If you are not interested, then you don't have to read about it. IN MY OPINION, after I turned 15, I didn't find it anymore amusing to sit in Drassen and "max your mercs". THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION, I am sorry if it insults someone and I am willing to change it if it does.

What i've been doing in my current game is only selling the armor in my current game. Then I haul the guns to tony. He only buys a certain amount and then he won't buy any more. Seems to help the balance. I also only train while my mechanics are fixing stuff or my doctors are healing someone. You don't have to sit there training your troops. That's what is great about this game- you can play however you want to.

Tried lowering the scope settings and sight range, but the game seems to follow the "stay behind cover and shoot at stupid enemies that just run around in circles" -pattern. I have 33 % extra elites and even the elites behave dumb early in the game. Any ideas how to fix this?
