For quite some time I wished that Jagged Alliance had better music system. Yes I can listen to my own mp3 collection or replace old music, but I always liked dynamic music.

*So here is my idea: Music will be stored in separate folders like: "Battle", "Laptop" etc.

*If possible music should be placed randomly choosing any music that is inside the folder without the need of any editing, just drop file with right extension into the folder (like in oblivion).

*If this is impossible some simple INI file should be used that would allow quick and easy adding. It could look like this:

[Battle]
Battle A.wav
113-war-of-the-titans.wav
204-defenders.wav
TENSOR B.WAV

[Enemy_sector]
TENSOR A.WAV
TENSOR B.WAV
TENSOR C.WAV

.....

*More complicated thing from music I would like to see is creation of different conditions for music to play, for example there could be music for battle, sneaking around undetected, sneaking around undetected at night, real time music in battle after making contact with enemy then loosing it and such.

In the end, I would like to be able to add more music to JA2, more "events" would be nice, but not necessary if very hard to do.

Try Tao's Audible Oasis, you can download it and just replace music but name of music should be same.

If you changed TENSOR A music to some Hardcore battle music in T.A.O then it still should stay as TENSOR A

Thanks Pasha,

The download can be found by clicking the corresponding link: Eastern Influence

Maybe it can give you some ideas.

Also,

I DID find a "Steady State Ambiance" feature in the source of Night Ops. From my understanding it is also a discarded feature in the Jagged Alliance 2 source. No one that is familiar with code or anyone for that matter has looked into this. In my opinion this would be a breakthrough feature.

From what I read it works like this:

Wherever you scroll on screen it plays particular ambiance. So, if we plug in some tracks that sound like waves hitting the shore, we could hear it in game by scrolling near a water source.

I believe this feature was abandoned due to time restraints by the Sir-Tech team, but IT IS IN THE SOURCE! Instead of using this feature they switched to the generic feature of crickets and owls sound effects being played periodically.

I tried to get it to work, but could not figure it out.

SO PLEASE SOMEONE LOOK INTO THIS!

The thread that I started for "Steady State Ambiance" can be found here.

well i am wondering, why Sir-Tech didnt implemented many things in game, well they created it but didn't make it work, such things as

Air Strike - Dimitri,Ira,Carlos and Miguel has speechfiles when entering SAM,about to be quiet to capture rockets.Very wanted to see it in 1.13,but why it is not in 1.13?

Vampire slayer quest - A girl in Grumm Tina gives you a some quest to kill a Vampire(Gordon),i heard that quest also includes to talk with Brewster.I heard that if you will place Gordon on Surface and will navigate cursor on him,Gordon name will be lost and there will be BloodCat instead.

Some Merc Rat - I found him in Merc-Edit and tried placing him through Map editor, but he wasn't there,he has a Face sti,i dont know for what purpose he intended to be in-game

Hireable MadLab - same in Merc-Edit,he has a Salary and he likes Dr.Q (i think) and he has traits, that means he was Hireable, but Sir-Tech canceled that, dont know the Reason

Some quest with Warden? - Dunno but i heard that she was the part of Vampire quest, until sir-tech made her Hostile. It is also unknown(for me at least) why she says that "We(You) make a huge mistake"?Also heard that she gives other quest

Enrico Chivaldori - Hireable - he is in Merc-Edit,and his Location is Meduna, but he is unhirable yet we cant see him.I think Sir-Tech wanted to be him in-game but thought that it is risky, what if Enrico and Miguel die?Thats a good reason to remove him from game

Things that Sir-Tech forgot

Make Martial Arts animations for Female and Big male

Make Radio animation for Female (Sexism from Sir-Tech)

Fire animation for Big male and Female, the one when Reg male covers in flames and dies

They forgot to add Muzzle flash to pistols for regular make - Standing position

i think there is more, but i won't search for that right now

Well it is just sad that Sir-Tech didnt made some things working, and sad that they forgot to make important animations

AirStrikes:
- debugging it remains an unfinished quest
- I remember some comments, possibly attributed to Sir-Tech staff, that the Airstrikes had a detrimental effect on fun for testers (this in addition with time constraints does make it a likely feature to be cut, why invest in a feature that people will complain about?) EDIT: That or I may be confusing the reason Air Srikes were cut from v1.13 after the brief period as an available feature about five years ago.

Rat - he is part of the Sci-fi (Crepitus) quest and provides background information on the bugs.

all mercs have airstrile lines

it is in the vanilla code but was taken out
in 1.13 it was activated but kicked again 'cause it caused ctd.s galore

the vampire quest is a running gag to frighten newbies

rat is part of the crepitus-stuff - he simply is to be shot

madlab does not have speechfiles for that - apparently they just gave that stuff (buddies , traits etc) to everyone

enrico shows up in the endscene if miguel is dead

could be fun to play with Air strikes ON

like,Air strike once per 5 turns, could make captured SAMs useful at least

But seriously,Air strike could be cool at least in battle, dont know how they could be destroyed tho

I believe this lead to a "sense of helplessness" which detracted from the fun. Almost sure this was something SirTech documented, but also could have been the community's findings five years ago.

That's the thing, activating the Airstrike feature was easy (done near the beginning of v1.13), but I don't remember an in-progress countermeasure other than taking cover when a merc called out the warning. The airstrikes while buggy, seemed to be fully coded by Sir-Tech, but there does not seem to be any option to fight back other than quickly taking over SAM sites, which simply abstracts it by not allowing the airstrike event in sectors under the coverage of your SAM's.

well i still want to know,is it possible to make air strike working properly without ctd's or assertion errors and without lag/bugs?

Because it is a great feature, without Aviation the Omerta scene is strange,we see how bombardier bombs house, but later in game aviation is not used + we dont even see a bombardier in game

Ok im off, sleep time + i am a little sick

Of course Arulco's airports do feature radar as well. Razz
And i think that aerial surveillance (= preventing airstrike) would be a very interesting facility to add to strategic gameplay. That is, IF airstrike could be (re)activated without crashes.

Your mod replaces the music, Its something I can do easily do myself. What im talking about is new system that will allow easy ADDING of new music pieces and new "events" that are recognized by game.

BTW: Im pretty sure that coping responses is against board rules.

No, for logical body types, the STIs have to be adapted. For example the weapons have to be extracted out of the STI model.
