I saw earlier in the thread someone complaining that glasers aren't cheap. What kind of ammunition do you use that you have to buy it anyways? 5.56 and 5.45 are both extremely common from the get go so that's already a bunch of your guys equipped. The only time I had to buy ammo was when my browning was running low on tracers, and typically I buy rockets/mortar rounds/specialized ammo, but I never have to buy ammo for common guns.

Having the inventory packed like Logi shows gives a lot of options in combat, however most of the time you don't need that because the AI is abysmally dumb; most of the time you can manage just shooting them dead.

True, but sometimes you encounter nasty surprises - and then you'll be happy you have those extra options.

I.e. yesterday after capturing the middle SAM:
7 out of my total of 9 combat mercs were busy repairing stuff, training milita, doctor games, etc... but Buzz and Grizzly were free, so I sent them out to kill a enemy patrol of 6.
Buzz already got complete Comp-18 Dyneema armor with Titanium plating and a Steyr Aug with Rod&Spring and all the other goodies... and Grizzly wasnt underequipped either. So I was sure this was gonna be easy.
After I silently killed the first couple of enemys I got noticed - well, no problem... 4 redshirts vs 2 well-equipped mercs.
Suddenly theres a HUGE wave of enemys, including a handful of elites - I look at the map - enemys in sector: 24. Surprised Reinforcements from the next sector.

Between the two of them they went through a total of:
- about 150 bullets of 5.56
- 4 Vacuum-grenades
- one 40 mm Thermobaric grenade
They also were both on pretty low health by the end of this, despite having Dyneema & Spectra armor.

I was expecting a easy fight - barely got my mercs out alive.

What im saying is just... I agree that, most of the time, u dont need more than bullets and fights are easy... but it sure is nice to be prepared for more. Personally I always get a M79 and 1 Thermobaric grenade as soon as possible, but it wont see any use unless im way deep into a situation I can't get myself out of without blowing shit up.

Well, I know that was pretty off-topic... but to get back on topic, if he wants to play without helmet and pants, why not? Theres a distinct drawback of playing this way, getting hit with explosives hurts way more.
It ain't fun to get hit with a mortar when wearing full spectra.
But I'm sure its even less fun when your not wearing helmet and pants.

Ha - ha - ha, awesomeness!! Very Happy

In which sector was this? Were there any buildings? Usually a single building with a roof can turn the battle in your favor.

That was G7 - no rooftops, lots of flat land, some tall grass, about 30% camo - and a "spotters must die" policy.
I was coming from G8 in Cambria, the reinforcements must have been coming from G6.

Getting into the farmhouse would have helped - interrupts and headshot bursts - but I got nailed down in the grass next to the barn.

/E: Anyways, must have been a happy day for Buzz Very Happy

Thinking that glasers are expensive doesn't contradict what you are saying, is it? Especially if you typically just scavenge the ammo from enemies and caches.

Scavenging ammo = ~0 $ < Buying glasers = $$$

Also, I like the 7.62x51 round and that one can be quite sparse at least up until midgame which sometimes forces me to put down an order at Bobby Ray's. The supply is especially narrow if you're having a machine gunner fleshing out these bullets like there was no tomorrow.

We must be playing on different settings 7.62x51's can be a bit sparse but usually you can collect enough by simply emptying all the rifle magazines into your machine gun. Glasers- never had to buy, if there aren't enough I use regular ammunition instead.

Glasers are only useful if your enemy doesn't wear body armor, otherwise don't bother with it, i prefer AP or Match ammunition(the white ones)Armor Piercing will do damage and Match gives a good chance to hit, i also love AET but degrades the weapons faster, so is nice to have a competent mechanic to "clean" the guns after some fights

True, but did you really have to resurrect a 20 month old thread to repeat that?
