This wasn't properly explained yet, as it would propably be overlooked anyway, as the pit is currently plastered with bears, hamsters and their hybrid bastards. :happybear:
The traits currently in the trunk are

This feature only uses new traits. You can use any combination you want, but the usual trait rules for 3 traits apply - majors can have 2, minors only 1, and there can only be up to 2 majors (at least once I doublechecked that properly ).
Note that this is used to overwrite any trait selection the game might do for the soldiers. If you only select Night Ops as a skill, the game might fill up the other 2 slots on its own, so your merc might also have auto weapons and athletics for example. So this is just a guaranteed minimal trait layout.
The new entries for the KS special will be added to the trunk by Shanga, once he has the data/is sober again.

Aside from the hair/skin/traits variables, do we get to pick the basic stats too (agility, dexterity, strength, marksmanship etc)?
Edit: also, what is COVERT_NT? Is it camouflage?
