Hi guys I absolutely love this game dusted it off a few days ago and thought I would give it a good smashing while I am off work "sick" angel had a little play on the original version to get the feel for the game back before I gave 1.13 ago. Wow what a change 1.13 is. Big thanks to the efforts of everyone involved it's truly a great achievement.

I have currently iron manned my way through novice with some what of a resistance from the AI on novice with 1 imp in 60 days and could have been faster but I saved up a couple of weeks for motor shells to lay waste to meduna in style.

I found the AI very predictable at this level. They rarely had snipers and most troops run At me get shot and run away. They always seemed to panic and just hide till my second squad flank them and they have no place to go and my snipers pic off the stragglers. Night ops are even easier light up around my squad and leave a unlit little tunnel for the noobs to filter through. With 10 mercs lined up and 2 grenade launchers at the ready I stopped this tactic as it seemed too easy. I only lost one merc who was unlucky enough to be my designated door opener and sadly bull bit the bullet in alma but it's ok because grizzly is going to "take care" of his wife. With all that being said I have a few questions about the game

1. Will the AI be less noob on higher levels or is the difficulty scaled by nerfing the player and buffing the AI and just increasing the troops they have?

2. Soooo many guns to choose from can you guys tell me your faves and explain why. I used colt commando smg. Fn fal carbine. And the first sniper rifle available

3. How do I get sky rider to Estoni to refuel he cannot make it in one trip

4. Can I free aim my grenade launchers and mortars ?

5. Can your airdrop your troops ?

May seem like noob questions I did ok without knowing but something that bugged me and I couldn't figure out how.

On my next play through am planning on taking a mine and just sitting for a 100 days training gumpy and flo and have super cheap super heroes happy
I never use the upper tier mercs I have always used the mercs that are 1k a day or less my most expensive merc was Barry . Having more than one imp and drop all on seems like cheating just saying thumbs down

1. Depending on sub-mod (AIMNAS, BigMaps, UC etc.) it's different, especially BigMaps are doing big difference, but in general: difficulty affects number of troops and some of theirs stats, not AI (AI just feels different on different maps). On the other hand fighting 15 people 3 times is MUCH easier than fighting 45 at once.

2. That's long story (depending on sub-mod)...

3. I have to try that after few upgrades. Before fuel level on heli it was doable happy

4. What's "free" aim? You can "prepare" them but shooting takes ages with heavy weapons.

5. Yes you can (from heli), distance to enemy and facing direction after airdrop depends on some traits and backgrounds.

Regarding the AI . . . a lot of what the AI does is controlled via the tactic settings of each individual enemy (and neutral/friendly), which is set in the map editor or set randomly by the game engine. To quote the manual:

ENEMY ORDERS AND ATTITUDE.
* Stationary. Does not move from tile unless he sees intruders or is under fire, in which
case, he can move up to 5 tiles away.
* On Guard. Stays within 5 tiles of where he is placed.
* Close Patrol. Patrols within 15 tiles.
* Far Patrol. Patrols within 25 tiles, increases to 50 once he is aware of intruders.
* On Call. Patrols within 10 tiles, increases range to 30 once aware of intruders, will
respond to other enemy's call for help.
* Seek Enemy. Pretty much patrols the whole map and will respond to calls for help.
* Point Patrol. Allows you to create a specific path for the enemy to follow. Click on
it and use numbers 1 to 9 on keyboard to define it. The enemy will travel to each
point in sequential order, staying within 10 tiles of each point.
* Random Point Patrol. Same as point patrol, except that the enemy will randomly
choose which point to go to next.

ATTITUDE.
* Defensive. Is more cautious in battle.
* Cunning. Searches extensively for cover.
* Brave. More interested in the fight.
* Aggressive. Into killing at all costs.
* Aid. Brave or Cunning. Will call to other enemy's for help.
* Solo. Brave or Cunning. Fearless, does not call for help.

You can read about the map editor here if you want to try it.

Thanks guys I'll give that a look at .

When I say free aim what I mean is shooting my grenades and mortars wer ever I want like when I throw my grenades, sometimes I what to just pop a grenade in a certain area as a guess or blow a wall up but it seems I have to aim in at an enemy to get any sort of crosshair
