It is a very frequent error in my case so reloading is not much a help for me. Maybe i'll try the new interrupt system, or go back to the previous stable build. Btw. it's interesting, that nobody else have this problem (or im just simply a noob, not being able to find the correct source.). Anyways 1.13 is a fantastic work of the modders, and i'm very grateful to them!

if I remember correctly there is a way to automate the saving at every turn.
I noticed also that alt s/l continue to work in cases where the other controls do not work (also ctrl+x until the game is not just freeze)

My presence is sporadic due problem with my connection. I am here approximately 1 day a week.

Yes, there is a feature and i used it but even if i load my savegame, the same error occurs every time. Maybe it is some issue with the IIS implemented. But i think i try out the new system, because i red the appropriate thread and it seems very solid. Anyway thanks for the help! ;)

I installed jagged alliance 2 with the 1.13 mod (7609). I noticed that sometimes the enemy gets an interrupt on me, the top red bar simply freezes with "interrupt!" but the enemy does nothing, i can simply continue my turn while the top red bar stays until i end my turn. I play with the old interrupt system.

This happens all the time in my games. Something is broken in interrupt system, as are broken many other things in 1.13.

Hi to All
I'm new in Forum but I'm playing ja2 1.13 (7609) I'm using ja2_7609en+fix.exe but I've an error when initializing my game:

"[9.01291e-006] : The value [Graphics Settings][HIDE_EXPLORED_ROOM_ROOF_STRUCTURES] = "" in file [Ja2_Options.ini] is neither TRUE nor FALSE. The value TRUE will be used."

but the game start well and I can Play without problems. can it be a problem for future? it's normal using ja2_7609en+fix.exe?
when I start Xml editor.exe i see this message twitter.com/merlo_fede/status/729767362086490112
Here the steps of my installation:
I've installed JA2 Gold pack
Download & extract latest 1.13 release (7435) into JA 2 installation directory (confirm overwrite)
Download & extract latest 1.13 update (7609) into JA 2 installation directory
Run "zPatch.bat" from JA 2 installation directory
And Dowload ja2_7609en+fix.exe

When i use ja2_7609en+fix.exe, do I have to install some files or changing current gameDir data for example SCI GameDir 2270?

Please Help me! and sorry for my english, I'm from Argentina!

Hi Ale Millo, welcome to the pit!

this message simply warns you that the exe expects to read the ini setting HIDE_EXPLORED_ROOM_ROOF_STRUCTURES in the ini, can't find it, and will use the default value. This is most likely an effect of the exe being newer than the ini. This is not a problem, the game will be perfectly playable.

Ideally, whatever place you got that fixed exe from might also have an updated ini.

1. Ja2_7609en+fix.exe is fully compatible with official 7609 release, you don't need to install anything additionally.
2. Ja2_7609en+fix.exe is unofficial release, use it at your own risk and don't expect any support for it from official 1.13 team.
3. If you are using correctly installed and patched ja2 1.13 7609, there should be all needed ini files.

Hi,

is there a possibility to remove the face gear from the soldiers faces (gas mask, goggles, etc.) ? I know this was possible before by editing ini files but i can't find this option anymore (neither anything related on the web). I always used to set small icons in the corner to indicate what a soldier is wearing instead of the whole face coverup.

Thanks,

"Show Face Gear Graphics" in game options toggles this. Leave "Show Face Gear Icons" enabled to see the icons in the lower right corner.

Hi sevenfm,

good work! Hope I can use the exe to play, but I got a "Unhandled exception. Unable to recover" c2d while creating an IMP user after I press "Weiter/next" in the tab the sniper perk can be choosen.

I am using the same installation as v7609, german version.

- no problem if I use the original JA2.exe from version 7609
- I change some merc data for more strength - and some options in the INI with the INI editor (more money, slash stays permanent, BR shipping is faster...)

Any idea what could be wrong?

PS: save game is not compatibel. After I create my IMP with 7609.exe loading a save game with the fix.exe tells me that the savegame's group size is not compatibel with the current setting. I play in window mode with Win10. Fullscreen is not playable on my old laptop..

link to German version was removed.

That was not my intention :-)

If this (and the screen resolution issue?) is the only bug a found a workaround:
Use only 8-member groups and create the party with the original exe.

I think it's better to remove link until the bugs are fixed.

I was able to create a 10 character team with one IMP using official German 7609 and then load it with ja2+fix.
The IMP bug I can reproduce but cannot fix.
What is the screen resolution issue? Maybe you are trying to mix unpatched 7435 with Ja2+fix which is based on actual 7609 svn?

No I use the 7609 version.

I what did:
- creating a 10-member-party game with 7609 with windowed screen resolution 1024x768, save the game
- with the same setting, the fix.exe tell me the resolution is not high enough..

with the 8-member setting it works (maybe in the code there is only checked for greather/smaller instead of greather/smaller AND equal ?)

Q: Did you change something regarding the IMP character generation? After reading the change log I could not find a match here.

Resolution numbers in Ja2.ini were changed between 7435 and 7609.
In 7435, SCREEN_RESOLUTION = 4 means 1024x768, in 7609, SCREEN_RESOLUTION = 4 means 1280x720, and squad size is limited to 8 in this resolution. So, according to your description, you are using old 7435 exe so maybe your game wasn't patched correctly for some reason.
And in my test with 7609 exe and ja2+fix.exe (both in German language) I was able to load 10 mercs team without any problems.

I have no idea why the game crashes at IMP creation, nothing was changed in laptop code or near that, and it works well in English and Russian versions without any problem.

ok - first of all you are right. My installation was corrupt, it was 7435.

Anyway after reinstalling completely the IMP generation bug is still there.

Forget the save game problem, I am very sorry!

Instead of this I am not able to set the screen resolution to 1024x768. Is this not more supported with 7609 and later?
I try to set some screen id's and even the custom setting (25) and manual input to 1024x768 leads to 1280x600 or something like this.

Unofficial ja2+fix.exe release:

Based on stable 7609, includes all post-release fixes from stable trunk.

Also, some additional changes are made to the code:

English version: link

I can't DL from this link. DB says the file doesn't exist.

EDIT: Never mind. I read the most recent post from Sevenfm in this thread. Thanks!

Hi, is this the latest version of Ja2 1.13?

I use to play ja2 UB years ago and I LOVED it, I never knew about all of these mods, I stumbled upon this community and was totally blown away by all of the work everyone has put in to build upon, honour and breathe life back into this great game.

My lold aptop broke and I done some research and picked up the Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming (7577) running windows 10 it is meant to be a good enter gaming laptop and should be more than capable of running newer titles and this gem.

The problem I have is, I have no real technical knowledge on modding or anything of that nature but what I wanted to know was

Which is the best version of ja2 base game to buy to add the mods on to? Gold(steam?)

Which zip software is best to use to be able to use extract and use these mods? [b][7Zip?/b]

What is the latest best version of Ja2 1.13 to download and play? It seems as though there are two different type of builds the first being stable builds which don't look like they have been updated since 2014 and unstable builds, I am unsure on which is the latest version with all of the content, least buggy and compatible with other mods and where I can download it.

Does anyone know where I can read up on editing the ini settings correctly also as I hear that is very important to configure correctly once the mods are correctly loaded on.

Also I am not sure if the latest 1.13 contains all of the up to date mods, if not could anyone please recommend to me a few of the other must have mods which are compatible with the latest 1.13 that an old fan must experience in your opinion.

I don't intend to spam of clog up the thread so any compassionate veterans of this forum who can offer insight and help would be greatly appreciated I can be contacted here or in my pm/dm

A lot of the threads haven't had any replies for years I wasn't sure if I am making these requests in the correct thread, I apologise.

Really excited to get this game up and running again after all of these years, thank you all once again for all of your hard work.

I'll attempt some answers to your questions.

Welcome!

Get the Gold version of JA2 (GOG.com) - less hassles.

You have Win10 -- you will have to apply the Win8+ fixes found in the ../Docs/Windows Compatibility fixes folder. Win10 is not nice to JA2 and older games but can be made to comply.

The "Stable" build (r7609) lacks many of the new features added to v1.13 but has the benefit being compatible with Sevenfm's Experimental Executable which adds most (if not all) of the bug fixes of the latest build, and a much advanced AI (lacking in the latest build). You might as well get them both and try them both out. Once Gold is installed you can copy it to other folders and all of them will work. In that way you can have a latest build install and a 7609 install.

As for mods . . . it's personal preference so try them all -- there's countless months of enjoyment there.

Any zip software should work. I use 7zip.

Editing the ini settings is also personal preference for the most part - so again, play and experiment because it's all basically personal preference. The default settings can get you started.

Sevenfm offers a modpack (in his sig) with the mods compatible with 7609. I'm not sure what mods are compatible with the latest build - someone else will have to answer that one.

Wildfire 6.07 should work with latest build without problems, there are also experimental versions of Wil473's mods (AFS and UC) for unstable release. And there is epic Aimnas-Unfinished-Bigmaps mod that works with unstable (though older versions work well with stable 7609).
Simple map mods (like NOps maps) should work, too, but more complex mods will require some XML work to update data.

As for Win10, it's recommended to apply registry patch (but dll patch will work too with some minor graphical problems).

If you want to play stable 7609, I would recommend to start with Arulco Revisited + SDO, as it's well balanced both for NCTH and OCTH and the maps are nice (but read about airport location in report).
For unstable, it's probably best to start with Wildfire 6.07 mod.

Hi thank you for your help, the Win8+ fixes are they the same as the registry patch mentioned below? Also I am still unaware of which is which version, thank you for breaking down the differences between the two, please pardon my ignorance, so The "Stable" build (r7609) is pretty much free of bugs as is the latest build but the stable is missing a lot of content from the latest build but it does have the bonus of advanced AI.

The link sevenfm sent me above is that the latest unstable build with all of the new content or the stable one I am unsure?

Also is the Sevenfm's Experimental Executable already included in the latest stable build or does it require a separate download?

From speaking with you it sounds like I would be enjoying the latest unstable build with latest content, find my feet with that and then move forward from there and try to learn how to add other mods ontop of this.

I have noticed members on here saying they cannot go back and edit old posts so does that mean I should be scrolling through to the latest pages and comments of the relevant threads to find the latest download version link rather than using the original threads first post, maybe I'm mistaken.

Regarding getting started basically I should get the Gold version of JA2 from (GOG.com), then copy the main program files folder to my desktop and then apply the build/mods extractions to that folder using 7zip overwriting everything making sure to not do this to the original program files folder. Thank you for taking the time to respond I appreciate it, have a great Friday night.

Hi, the Win8+ fixes mentioned above are they the same as the registry patch that you mentioned, as I am trying to avoid graphical issues, do you know where I can find a tutorial or something on where to acquire and how to accomplish this registry patch?

It sounds like what I am aiming for is the latest unstable build with all of the new content and the wildfire 6.07 mod from your recommendations, I hear wildfire really improves the world maps and that is something I am excited to see.

Thank you once again for all of your help sevenfm, I will put a few hours into the forums and hopefully grab a better understanding of what is what and get familiar on how to do things and be able to understand a lot of the terminology on the forums, have a great weekend.

The latest "unstable" build contains ALL of Flugente's features except his extra characters (Shepard, Croft, Ryder Twins, Payne).

I am not familiar with the Win8+ fixes because I use Win7, but AFAIK there are 2 fixes, a DLL fix and the registry patch. Perhaps Sevenfm or another will point you to the registry fix.

The link Sevenfm sent is for the latest 'unstable' build with all of the new content (Flugente's features).

Adding most mods is easy now because we have a virtual file system setup - so all VFS mods install alongside the original game and alongside the v1.13 mod. Adding older mods that do not conform to the VFS system is best done on a separate install of the game because they will overwrite the original game and disrupt the VFS setup. Sevenfm's modpack of the 'stable" (r7609) build contains all VFS mods that are compatible with that build -- so you can switch from one mod to another as they are all there.

Sevenfm's executable only works with the 'stable' build, not the latest build.

Do not install the original game into Windows Program Files folder, or to any Windows system folder. Create a separate folder away from Windows to install the game. Once you've done that you can copy the entire installation to as many other folders (or flash drives) as you want. Create a launcher icon on your desktop to launch each individual install. I wouldn't copy the installation itself to the desktop - but then I'm old school.

The game is now nearly infinitely customizable - play, customize, enjoy!

Regarding Win8/10 fixes let me refer to this post that sums up the options you have -> Win8/10 fixes.

Regarding game versions that you can use there are basically three options:
- Latest Stable Build 7435 with Update 7609 - I can't recommend using the JA2.exe though. If you want to use mods for this older build use one of Sevenfm's Exes instead.
- Latest Single Click Installer that holds the current development version
- Sevenfm's Experimental Exe that is based on version 7609 and has lots of additional fixes and optionally AI improvements (links to the Exes are in his sig)

Hi Kaczor happy

You are not doing anything wrong. Several of the starting options were moved to the file JA2_Options.ini ; this file can be found in the [Data-ModName] folder. Only stuff that would require a new game start is still on the starting screen.
It is also recommended to go through the JA2_Options.ini before the first game start and de/activate the various things anyway ; because the default settings might have, respectively lack, something you like or don't like.

Hi there

I tried to download the Current official Update Version for Release 7435: Build: 7609, 25 October 2014 from ja2v113.pbworks.com/w/page/4218334/Downloads , but the download links seem to be broken. Is there any chance to get the update file somewhere?
