For a forum called The Bear's pit, there is a surprising lack of bear-related items. So at the last summer convention, we (smeagol, DepressivesBrot, tais, me) thought about how to change that.

So behold: the bear trap (item #1741)!

A bear trap works like a bomb - it can be armed and disarmed. It doesn't explode though, so you can re-use it. It deals significant damage to the legs, if you use disease leg wounds are extremely likely. Most important of it all, it causes a huge AP drain on whoever steps on it. This is intended the significant distress and effort of the trapped person to free themselves.

As this trap is not a bomb, mechanical and strength skill are required when arming/disarming it - explosives skill is useless here.

The item itself uses <ItemFlag>4</ItemFlag>, which now signifies that an item is a bear trap.

The beautiful item pictures were done by smeagol, the downright nasty sounds are from DepressivesBrot. This feature has been added to the trunk in r8287 & GameDir r2338.

This is fully savegame compatible.

Using the new exe without the new GameDir data causes Donald Trump to point you out as an example of everything that is wrong with your country. So sad.

I know now that it could never work between us, as much as we wanted to, it could never be! Not because you're a rabbit, but because you're black.

If you want, you can donate to me. This will not affect how and what I code, and I will not code specific features in return. I will be thankful though.

Me too, but he said it's beautiful, so I trust that I'll love it when I see it. big grin

Seriously though, black trap on a black pear in a pitchblack night. If you squint you can see the nose.

Interesting. It's not an image either, it's flash... maybe it's a minigame and if you click in the wrong part you get trapped? cheeky autsch.

Are you guys talking about the embedded Youtube video on the first post? If you use a modern web browser it'll appear as an embedded html5 video.

Or you can go to https://youtu.be/N3HdDm52pYU to watch it.

As "simple" as it is, I love it; Something new to add to my extremely fortified airport...

By the way, will the trap carry a disease if a sick person steps on it?

Lurking is nice
