Hey folks, on the latest SVN version of GameData, and the latest compiled .exe I could find (8555), I am experiencing a game-breaking bug where after a sector receives reinforcements, a turn or three later I can no longer select mercs or groups, or click cancel, on the Strategic Map screen. The list on the far left is clickable, rest of the UI is responsive, but the small dialog when selecting a merc or a group in a sector cannot be interacted with.
This is my current long term save (50% progress), as I just met Mike. After attacking a sector, 1 turn after reinforcements arrive I can no longer select mercs on the Strategic Map. Also interesting is that I can't click Cancel at the bottom of the dialog.
I've painstakingly played and replayed from old saves to determine the trigger for this issue, and it only seems to happen a few turns after enemy reinforcements arrive at a sector that I am attacking, after they are alerted to my presence. I am a chronic restarter of this game... probably 20 campaigns over the years as I restart when things get easier, but this is my longest running playthrough and I would love to actually finish the end game with the new features.
Has anyone seen anything like this? Any ideas where the bug may be located? I can continue to progress in my save only with Spy/Stealth kills, but this is frustrating.
I can attach a save, but it currently says that I am limited to 0kb, possibly because I have a low post count?
I am interested in potentially trying to help debug this issue, being a C# programmer myself, but I haven't been able to successfully compile an exe using VS 2017 CE, the solution defaults to compiling a .lib rather than an exe? (seperate post here http://thepit.ja-galaxy-forum.com/index.php?t=msg&goto=353311&#msg_353311)

Sorry, meant to state that! Yes, I can exit the dialog to tactical by pressing Escape, and I can re-enter combat by selecting a sector on the map (or pressing space) and selecting "Go to Sector".
Hey, I really appreciate your work on this project, by the way!
Here's the save: https://nofile.io/f/PNJZtTUnhfE/SaveGame100.sav
And the JA2_Options.ini: https://nofile.io/f/FtK3H6K2Kg4/Ja2_Options.INI (updated, sorry, I included the wrong one)
I have tried opening the same save with the default SVN JA2_Options.ini, and the issue still occurs.

Was able to step through the code finally using "Break All", and got to step through CreatePopUpBoxForMovementBox, which runs the first time you open the dialog, and then runs again when you've clicked on a person, setting the asterisks around their name to show selection.
When the bug occurs, CreatePopUpBoxForMovementBox occurs for the first paint, but when you then try to select the group or merc, the second CreatePopUpBoxForMovementBox does not fire, as if my click didn't go through.
However, the mouseover highlights work properly - anything under my cursor is changed to white, including the Cancel option. Just can't get a click to register.

I now believe that this is the game running out of some sort of game engine resource, (like MouseRegions?), rather than anything in the game timeline itself.
After messing around trying to tease out a common factor, I was able to make this save https://nofile.io/f/JCUoQwrnhn5/AutoSaveGame01.sav which is just on the brink of the bug.
While the game progress is paused, typically only opening the laptop and shutting it will cause the bug to occur, where I cannot select a group, merc, or click cancel from the Strategic Map. If once doesn't work, try opening the laptop screen again a couple of times.
Opening the options menu doesn't seem to be enough, but opening the save menu seems to tip things over the edge.
I have also had other button oddities, though not frequently. Rarely, sometimes Group and Cancel will be unclickable, but the lone merc name is selectable.
@Flugente, you seem to have had experience in this space, any ideas how I could monitor / find this resource? Is MouseRegions barking up the wrong tree?
Would you be willing to open this save and see if you have the same outcome?

Hello,
I recently encountered the exact same issue: on strategic map the travel command pop-up did suddenly get disabled. Unable to select anyone anymore, and the only way to reverse from the window was clicking elsewhere on the map. (Arulco Revisited, Seven's +AI-exe, and numerous settings tweaked in ini- and xml-files. Game day ~120, 32 mercs, 2 vehicles, Meduna and Recreo sectors left to liberate).
Tried with earlier saves, making actions differently, this and that.. the bug always occurred no matter what and I thought it's game over now. Thankfully it was not game-breaking after all:
While not able to determine a root cause or solution to fix the original issue, I figured out an alternative method to enable travel commands;
- When you click a destination column ("DEST") in the mercenary list in strategic view, you are able to assign all those same travel commands. (It activates the same function as the disabled pop-up window did.)
- For mercs and squads, you can either click the mercs individually, select the entire squads, or the entire crowd by pressing SHIFT + topmost and the bottommost merc on the list (sorting the list helps, if necessary, by clicking column titles). Then just click on empty region in DEST column and select your destination in the map.
- In order to assign travel commands for vehicles, just press DEST column for any merc inside the vehicle, and the travel command for the entire vehicle squad comes active.
While a bit more clumsy than the (no longer functioning) map overhead selection, this will definitely be a more desired option than quitting the game and cease liberating Arulco from the hands of a tyranny. The function has been working steadily for the rest of my campaign with no further issues encountered with travel commands. Likely, you'll get used to it quickly.

Hey Sludge,
many thanks for that hint.
Like that the bug can be ignored and funcionality is still given.
It would have been quite a shame, doing all the preparations for the final battle and then being stopped by the technique.....,
carry on ;)
