Hey guys, I really like the slow-progress-gaming, just to have more fun. Is there a maximum time in days, which you are allowed to stay in Arulco? I know that Enrico & rebels don't care, but I've heard of user, whos games crashed at a certain amount of days. Unfortunately, I don't know if this problem if related to Ja2 itself. Does anyone know if the code sets a special limit, as for example, the amount of days just can be displayed properly up to day XYZ and the game could crash AFTER this?

I've reached around day 280 one time, and the game crashed on me. I don't know if it's time related.

I don't know, don't think so, but I'm not a coder... Never reached day 280 Wink

Have two questions myself
When you press "v" you can see the progress, could anyone tell me what is before and behind the "/" ?? E.g. 5/5.
And another question, it seems you can change between "azerty" and "querty" for keyboards, any idea how?

Thanks

Current progress, and Maximum progress (I.E. the highest you've ever had). Maximum determines the technological level of equipment. Not sure what Current is for.

My guess is that the saved game itself becomes too large and unstable. Delete all unwanted equipment. V progess depends on Cities/SAMS/Quests completed & possibley even pure % maps visited. Thus Sci-fi mode has different X/Y than Normal. Keyboard stuff.... no idea. Sad

Does the querty/azerty change due to this or what do you mean?

Anybody who knows how to change querty settings back to azerty? (I'm from Belgium)

Progress is based on INI settings, actually. It reads the number of city sectors you've conquered (Sam sites count as double), the amount of money you're making in mines compared to how much you could be making (I.E. loyalty) and most importantly the number of enemies you've killed. There's also an option to base some of it on the amount of sectors visited. Some of the calculations are partially broken though, so I wouldn't recommend messing with the values at least until H.A.M is released (I've fixed 'em).

No, I think he's referring to the time limit. But that's not true - I believe the savegames can grow indefinitely. Of course, if you pile up more than 65,535 items in a single sector you may run into a limit (lots of other such limits in the game). P.S. I just played another game to day 270 and didn't encounter any problems. I'll try setting the game to fast forward and see how far I can go.

azerty-querty changes? Any idea how to change it...

Seems the first time I played the game it was all azerty (as is my default gold version)
Seems it changes to querty... maybe there's a hotkey to change it and I accidentally touched it with the ctrl-shft keys...

If I hit alt-shift my game changes from qwertz to qwerty, but that's because of my Windows where I can switch between German and US keyboard with that key combination. Maybe try that.

I've put a game on fast forward now. I've conquered the whole map so it can run without any prompts (until Ivan's contract runs out...). It's already run to day 370, and I'm going to go out now and leave it running for about 500 more days. But it seems fairly obvious that there should be no problems. Of course, I'm not fighting or doing any of the regular stuff, so who knows - could be a bug lurking somewhere. But as far as the day count is concerned, it works.

Thought at first that it did not work, but [font:Arial Black]it does!!!!

Thanks, man!!

[color:#006600]I suggest that Ja2 modders put it in the hotkey list as well. After all, it's a handy option with the alt/shift/ctrl hotkeys ja2v1.13 allows use for, and it will save a lot of people some issues

As systemfehler pointed out it is a Windows hotkey and as such should not be put into the hotkey list, at least not without a detailed explanation. It could be put into the readme (yes, if you don't read the readme file you deserve all the problems you encounter).

The reason for this is that it is not in any way a JA2 related hotkey, it is just that some (one?) hotkeys interferes with this feature. This is in turn a pretty bad idea as some localized versions (maybe even all) of XP installs with English and localized language keyboard as default.

Using Alt+Shift in the game is pretty much the same as using Ctrl+Shift+Escape (task manager) or using the Winkey as a modifier.

I never really reflected on this as I always this feature turned off but someone should probably take a look at it as it could lead to a few problems, an alternative with alt+X+LMB is probably better (X is not the letter X here but another unused key that is suitable).

Just got home. The game ran fine until day 784 (IVan's contract expired, so it paused). Again, this is without any fights or any meaningful events, so it's hardly a thorough test.
