It's 2012 and I must be the last guy who hasn't played UC - go ahead, make fun of me. Thanks to BIA I decided I need a dose of the good old goodness and am enjoying it immensely.

My question: how does one go about actually paying the subway goons? Dude walks up, I click on give (or any other dialogue option) ...and get mowed down (in port kip). My fix for now is shooting at one of the civilians first and I don't really have a prob with that :axe: , but I am curious. Also, what amount of cash is needed?

Also heard rumors that there is a quest with these sons of satan. Not asking for spoilers but don't want to botch the quest either - can I just kill them all off?

You can not pay them, its combat all the way.
And you will meet them in each subway station of the land.
Prepare to get hit in the cramped subways. Very Happy

Also you can burst fire in the direction of the walking gangster and often trigger combat early.
Its a little bit bullshit that he comes so close and then fires.
But thats due to the limits of its time.

Its a little bit of a spoiler but UC has a faction system. I dont really remember who is alligned with who anymore.
But the cops will be hostile at night and the smugglers get upset when you take all their awesome things.
I just kill em all!
It brings about some pretty tough fights, but the rewards are well worth it.

Also you should maybe consider to play the updated 1.13 version.
Its all hells of awesome.

If you want to play the old one, dont kill the lady in the sector with the limousine.
She is set to be in Tony

Thanks for the quick answer. Already worked out the cop/night thing and also read about not killing Claudia(?) - Will keep that in mind. I decided to play the classic UC first and then (definitely) the 1.13 too - that way i can enjoy both better i guess. All about max play value Wink

Oh yeah for sure!

The old UC is still very good. The pseudo NIV is cool and i actually dont miss 1.13 when i replay it sometimes.
A neat thing is that when you wear the max armor you can get, pistol bullets and small smg

if you are playing the old/original version: when in subway, climb! onto trains, shops or just up the wall. subway is such a good means of transportation that i did not bother with finding the pilot or assaulting sam sites. then, again, my aim was to kill the queen in two weeks.

Yeah, I think i spent at least 15 mins pacing around in the sub station of Port Kip until I figured that one actually "takes the train" Smile

(Port Kip has 2 sub levels, 2 platforms/trains that go nowhere and unintended exits that crash the game - which really didn't make it any easier) In Atremo it is more obvious, I think. All this after being shot up by hordes of scum. They forced me into the toilets *shake fist* They paid dearly for that. :rifle: Then I (accidently) emerged in Sheraton, looked around, died, and pressed ALT-L Surprised

But I love a mod that offers enough ammo so I can happily burst away - well, only with some guns. Takatakataka go the Aksu and PPSH. Great sounds. Also, i realized that so far I'm really just a common criminal, a bank and casino robber who shoots cops...

Well if it makes you feel any better, those cops are crooked as all hell. And the casino+bank is in the pocket of the crooked government, which in turn is in the pocket of the crooked crepaton corp. Very Happy

Especially the cop thing becomes very obvious in Port Kip. Have you found the poor reporter girl?

Yep. Definitely going to look her up in New York Wink

Even managed to free her very smoothly - I used the "burst exploit" to kill the single civilian in front of the cell door without making anyone hostile and walked right out with Miranda/Maria. Police is still largely friendly in that sector. However, oddly, I once or twice got attacked by a single cop, at day. Once he's dead, sector is back to friendly. Kinda keeps me on edge cos I use that sub station to transport guns to Tony Smile

Hah, thats sweet! I usually lost patience when trying that myself as it is a bit tricky to find the right spot.
Another way to do it, is to place some dynamite diagonaly from the west cell corner. Makes a neat hole to walk right through, and nobody cares.
Its a bit of a problem of the time in which the mod was made. The cops in that sector are dicks, talking to Bronsky makes that pretty clear(hinting at torture and extortion). But they count as real civis(and are not in the real cop faction) and killing them will ruin your team morale for ever. I learned that the hard way. The few who have gone aggro belong to the cop faction.

The thing with cops is that they will only go for you in daylight once you have pissed them off. Either by killing other cops or by stealing their stuff. One could try to prevent this for a long time.
But i am pretty sure that they will turn hostile once you reach the final town. IIRC it was scripted that way.

Also have you found the ambassador and his wife? He will send you a pretty sweet gift in return.

No ambassador yet. But a pretty mean surprise at Calisto airport. I thought between the easy peasy Vanilla Drassen airport and being used to the Wildfire Drassen airports this would be a piece of cake. Nope. Also entered from the south, bad idea. MD,Tex and Rude Dog almost died. Later one of the bar guys, in the other sectors, told me to beware of that sector because of the gun smugglers. Why, THANK YOU! But Calisto is free and I finally have a meager 4k income. Double that would be nice.

I also killed Bruiser for Peter - does anything come of that? Peter doesn't react and Bruiser doesnt have an "individual head".

My Dragunov (dropped in Kip) is out of Ammo and the few enemies who have Drags don't drop ammo so far. Any other gun use that ammo? - will Bobby or Tony sell any? Whereelse to find some? (Just hints pls) Tony came forward with some, cost a fortune though (nice to see Ayana still has Flo's discount)

~~Also noticed a (DMR?)rifle with a particular sound of ejected casing in Sector B14, sadly couldn't steal it. What could that have been?~~ Crap. I bet that were the one or two CZ 700M1 everyone is gushing about and i missed them. Instead managed to steal 2 MP5s which are nice but I much more need (better) sniper rifles.
