So since the SVN server died a few weeks ago and only a few people noticed I hereby announce that the development of JA2 1.13 will be continued on Github, the Github organisation 1dot13 has been setup to host the source and gamedir from the moment it was last available on the SVN server.
As a football legend once said "every disadvantage has it's advantage" the continuation of the development on Github will make it more accessible and easier for people who are interested in contributing to help keeping 1.13 going.

You can find the github organisation at https://github.com/1dot13

Anyone interested to join in the development is free to do so, this can be done in lots of ways, not just by coding or modding, come visit us on the Bear's Pit Discord! (https://discord.gg/GqrVZUM)

All the blood, sweat and tears that were spent on 1.13 have to be preserved.

Does this mean we no longer need a program like TortoiseSVN? If so I can now uninstall it because getting the SVN was the only thing I use it for.

Thanks for sharing. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed the SVN server go down. Particularly people who could do something about it, unlike myself.

It's the end of an era. It's going to be weird not periodically checking the SVN. Even when I go through long phases of not playing JA2 1.13, checking for updates and making sure my INIs were how I wanted them was a core part of my routine.

Hi lalienxx,

I think the time has come to thank you for many years of hosting the SVN for atleast the 1.13 project, I am not sure if other projects were still active on the SVN server before it broke down.
For now I'd say that it would be nice if you can keep it running for another month at max and then archive the repositories somewhere, Shanga might have some space at the storage that we moved kermi's archive to.

Our experience so far is that the move to github seems to have given a slight new boost to the v1.13 development and brought some handy tools that were missing somewhat before.
also:
- we now have an easier way of discussing changes in issues or PR's
- we seem to be able to make use of Github Actions for free to do v1.13 builds and turn this into full releases
- it's easier for users to report issues they run into in the game
- visibility of the project and possibility of new people showing up that can bring in new small or big features

@tais: you should also put the language specific (german, chinese, ...) game dir files to github.
you can find them on svn in the following location:
https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameData

Just to be sure. The link you posted is for language version for the trunk (latest, most recent) 1.13?

And on the other hand, the one below would be for the 7609 version (stable, official 2014)?

https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/branches/ja2_data_language_official_2014

Did I get this right?

How to get: latest 1.13, 7609 and more | 7609 SCI (eng) | Compiling+SVN

I need more details. (Didi Hallervorden)

@Kitty: Exactly.
I think we just need the language specific GameDir files for the actual trunk. The 2014 version is quite old ....

https://github.com/1dot13/source/releases

Scroll down to Assets, click on it to expand the selection, download the language version that you want and extract it over a fresh original JA2 install.
