Hi all,
I just started playing the v1.13 enhanced version 602, and it's incredible. However, I must say my jaw dropped when, on day 2, the Drassen mine was attacked by 98 elite soldiers -- poor Barry and Ira didn't stand a chance.
Is this normal??? I am indeed playing on expert mode for the first time, but, still, 98?? Did it do that in the stock version?

@Foreigner, it was originally disabled in JA2, but it was a scripted event. So we enabled it. At first it wasn't even optional, but as you can guess, that lasted less than a day 
Expert is a significant jump from experienced. However, ALL levels have the counter-attack enabled. Three full garrisons are sent from Alma to retake the mine, they surround Drassen, and if you have ALLOW_REINFORCMENTS set to true, they'll all try to come in at once. If you don't, then you should only have to deal with them one at a time.
And again, no matter the diff level, you CAN turn the event OFF so that it doesn't happen at all.
Although I've never tried NOVICE since I first played JA2, I'd imagine that most if not all would be red-shirts and yellow-shirts, and probably 60 total from all 3 squads.

I played this last night, with only IMP and rebels + MERC. That was a tough one! The best weapons I had was one MP5 and one of the Russian SMGs with the drum magazine. Rest had pistolas only.
I had to camp out in the northern bar in the mine sector, everyone crouched behind the pool table with guns trained on the door. Gumpy did not fare so well and Razor took a few heavy hits too, and the encounter took more than an hour to play.
There were some interupts and quite a few of Diedrannas elites who suddenly had splitting headaches for no apparent reason. :devilaugh:

The first time I played 1.13 I actually waited with Drassen until I had taken both Cambria and Chitzena and some caches. I came with a full squad of well equipped mercs and had the luck of it being a night attack. Two snipers on the roof of the toilets and my other guys spread around it. That was an awesome battle too.
Initially I considered modding it out but I kind of like the challenge. Worst case scenario, I guess, is to give up Drassen and then pick the patrols off one by one, which I guess you could do too. Otherwise, as mentioned, it's easy to mod out.
