Country and Western JA !! Amazing , some of the mercs are Doc Holliday ( his aim is good but health suffers , another Larry , if you will ) , Roy Rogers with Trigger ( sort of Hamous and ice cream truck ) and Zorro ( good with knives ) .
There seems to be a singing contest , where whoever caterwauls the loudest has more militia/townsfolk to train .
....... no , really.......... :placard:

MikeTheProDunno, maybe I'm a bit conservative, but I like the mercbar(hope I ain't the only one)-static, compact and one gets used to it fast.
It's just that somehow I think saving screen space may reduce the functionality of the inventory panel(granting one pops up after clicking the designated merc's head)because when that one pops up it'll block the view to vital areas almost at the center of the screen.
That's exactly what I was thinking when I laid my eyes on the screenshots. I think, the claim that supposedly "minimizing" the interface in such a way would provide the player with more view of the "action" is actually a misconception. Look at it this way:
You are watching something (the gameplay) through a window (the part of the screen that shows the gameplay). Making the interface like it was in the original game, that window becomes a bit smaller than it could theoretically be, given the screen size. So the UI developers say: let's make that window bigger by cutting out some interface so people won't feel obstructed by it.
But that, in my opinion, is wrong. They do make the window slightly bigger but instead of just having a smaller one, to keep playability they plaster it with a bunch of "stickers" that even grow in numbers when the game proceeds further. Now, I personally don't feel obstructed by having a smaller window, but I am utterly annoyed by having those stickers right in my face instead. I feel more obstructed by the interface actually blocking the view and producing blind spots than I do when my field of view is slightly smaller than it could be in the first place.
OK, now that I read my own post again that actually sounds a bit confusing but I hope you get what I'm aiming at nevertheless...

I say all members on this forum and all of the international forums boycott Bitcomposer. We will be the ones buying their games in the first place. So, unless they make a game to our demands they will have lighter pockets.

I'm not worried.
I just want to remind people that WE have the POWER. We are the ones consuming.
We are the body that takes the brain where it wants to go. The brain serves us in order to get to it's destination.
Ask yourself this one question:
Q) If we, (Bear's Pit Forums / all other forums), did not exist, would Bit composer be making these games?
We round up all members across the globe and make our statements + demands.
In this way both parties benefit. We get a game that will provide us with years of wasted time, and Bit Composer gets rich.
Also, we don't know if it will be modifiable. That should be one of our demands. (EASILY MODIFIABLE I MIGHT ADD)

Long time lurker, new reg'ed poster
Been following the development of the 1.13 mod (which I still use) and of course sniff out any news to JA3.
If I understand it correcty, bitComposer will make three new JA games??
- JA Online (browser based and probably to lure in the big crowds, and sell the name)
- JA2 Reloaded (3D remake of JA2 vanilla)
- JA3 (announced, or just probable?)
The online thing I probably won't be interested in, and if that was all they did with the franchise I would be outraged. But as they will make a remake of JA2 on a new engine, that bothers me little.
I would looove for them to remake JA2 on a much more moddable engine. Since mods can expand the game experience to almost unbelievable heights, and costs the developer company nothing.
I love strategy games, and am a big fan of Paradox Interactive games. They make every effort to make their games easily moddable and that has allowed for some epic mods, and it also keeps the game alive even years after its release.
For me the interface and stuff like that is not overly important. It will probably need some getting used to, but unless it is completely fucked up, it should be ok. I am more interested in having the old JA2 experience in a nice high-res state. If they can't pull that off, at least I still have the old classic.
I will try to keep an open and positive mind ... until something horrible happens (which seems to always happen to this franchise).
