goc_man Single Click Installers

Instuctions for all the Installers:
- Make a fresh install of Ja2. Make a copy of this directory, and save it somewhere so you won't have to reinstall again if/when you'll need a fresh install. (If using 64-bit Windows, DO NOT install the game into 'C:\Program Files (x86)'
- Double-click the SCI you downloaded. Enter the path of your Ja2 installation directory (or click the "..." box to locate it).
Click extract and overwrite all files when asked. Some installers are 2-part: so open the first part using WinRAR or 7zip (Download here) and extract the files to your JA2 root folder.
- Run JA2.exe and enjoy!

Stable Releases
--------------------------
These are installers based on the 1.13 Stable Release 4870 (+ bugfix)

More info -> HERE, and be sure to read the authors documentation in the 'Docs' folder.

Don't worry, the exe in my SCI is 5412. Version 5393 is displayed when starting (just the text wasn't updated yet),
I assure it's the newer exe (you wouldn't have the new 'food feature' if it wasn't).

Yo goc_man, Not sure who works on the hotkey PDF, I believe something like Alt + Shift + S sells all sector inventory. It seems to work better now, it used to CTD in earlier versions.

How do you enable the highspeed timer? Every time I try enabling it in the INI editor, it just resets to false, and when I try enabling it in the ingame options menu, the checkbox stays empty.
I'm new, so I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to ask.

Edit ja2.ini with notepad. Change or add the following line: ( It should be at the end of the file)

HIGHSPEED_TIMER = TRUE

This is independent of the ini editor settings which is for the ja2_options.ini. Basically the value resets because its not a valid setting with this off (It probably should be hidden or disabled but that's work).

This is vanilla unstable 1.13.

Although with the fixes in the last few days to a few things you would get a more updated .exe from SVN atm (r5423).

I tried to edit the Ja2.ini file manually, but everytime Ja2 is launched, the INI editor resets the value to false. Setting the file to read only causes the editor to crash.

You are correct. That does look like a bug though not specifically with goc_man's release. I updated my INI editor and to my surprise it had that the timer setting and doesn't do anything with it. I did not add that feature though I did submit changes for the ja2_options.ini at one time a long time ago.

I can only recommend setting it manually and not using the ini editor to start the game.

Edit: I looked at the code of the INI editor with reflector and it incorrectly linked the VFS_NO_UNICODE to the timer setting. Who maintains this app?

@all: I will fix the INI Editor to save the value correctly.

EDIT: It is fixed now. There is a new version 2.2.0.0 in the SVN GameDir:

Hi all. Fab work thanking you.

Have downloaded your sci, the latest ini and the latest exe. I can make changes to zombie via the ini but not via preferences ingame? Does this mean to switch on/off I need edit the ini? Can I do that without breaking my game?

Thanks guys.

did you actually get any zombies to show, because the missing preferences part makes me think that the exe was compiled without the zombie feature enabled (default setting)

The XML Editor has not been updated for features newer than the current revision. Wait until someone gets around to updating the XML Editor. EDIT: or edit using Notepad++

I tried this SCI and it works great for now.
One question, how do you refill canteens? I tried few things in swamps near Drassen but didnt manage to refill canteen.
Do I need to copy newer version of SVN?

Canteens are now truly refillable (just like the description always said). You can fill canteens by pressing 'Ctrl' + '.'. The following will happen:
Canteens now don't disappear if you drink from them. They will stay at 1%, this simulates them being 'empty.'
If there is any water tile in this sector, all canteens in the sector and in your team's inventories will get refilled.
Note that water in a sector can be poisonous (like in swamp sectors). Your canteens will be filled, but the resulting watermix will be unhealthy. You can get poisoned by drinking poisonous water!
Otherwise, the game checks if there are any water drums in this sector. Canteens will be refilled from that as long a it has any water in it.
A water drum is a very huge barrel of water that exists solely for this purpose: Fill a drum with water and store it in your HQ to replenish your squads water supply.
Only food that has any drink points can get refilled.
This only works if there are no enemies in the sector.

Edit : Also , read this explanation thread .

Maybe it would be smart to put shortcuts like that (also . for sniper modes) in item description.

Most propably your Items.xml does not work with this, because of a bad letter in line 36639. Try updating your GameDir and use the newest Items.xml.

Check if the -tag of the Ameli (item #1188) in Data-1.13/TableData/Items.xml contains any odd-looking letters. Delete them and save. Try if it works now.

Got a question:
Quote:
- New Feature: "Lock" / "Release" mouse cursor in tactical windowed mode, so the mouse can stay within window boundary
o This is very helpful for doing scrolling with the mouse (by moving the mouse to the window edge) in windowed mode
o You can toggle on/off the feature by pressing CTRL + Z. It is also possible to press CTRL + Y. So the user can decide which fits better smile
o Whenever you toggle on/off a screen message appears on the tactical log to notify the player

Does this only work in window mode or also in fullscreen? I am using a two monitor setup and my mouse likes to go over the border, which makes it impossible for me to scroll left (and I don't want to use arrow keys for looking around, if possible). Pressing CTRL + Z/Y doesn't change that for me.
