Anybody else see the ending you get when you don't fix the laptop?

A much better ending, even compared to the real ending, which is the "most dynamic non-cinematic, email-based endgame scenario in a game expansion pack developed in Canada". :ok:

So if you don't fix the laptop you are (mostly) stuck with the in-game equipment and starting+recruitable mercs? That's really hard core.

Huh. I can't remember if Tony is in UB.

i think prior to the bug fix there was no way to hire any new mercs even with the labtop fixed. i think i never hired more than the starting guys and the RPC's in UB.

It's possible to fix the laptop. All you have to do is buy a new satellite communication antenna (I don't remember the exact name of it Razz) at the Fung's Shop (Betty) and that's it.

There's a patch for Unfinished Business, I think that it fixes the laptop fixed bug, but I could be wrong...

How would you not know that it's possible to fix the laptop when you finished UB? The ending you get plain out states "You can fix the laptop at Madame Fung's by buying the transmitter."

Can't believe anyone could have missed that. That was the one thing on my mind since the first sector! And when you look through Betty's inventory you can see it right there.

So, what do you get when finishing the game without the laptop? (except the odd satisfaction of finishing the game against insurmountable odds)

If you don't fix the laptop, you go straight to the scrolling credit scene, except before the credits, there's a long scrolling text ending.

Basically, to paraphrase and summarize, the alternate ending goes like this:
---------------
This is a message to all those who failed to fix their laptops at Madame Fung's:
The game is over.

We repeat:
The Game is over.

Like many who are not connected to the internet, you have missed out on many things. Exciting events such as:

Enrico sending you e-mails wondering why you are not replying.

Miguel dying of cancer.

The URL to the pornsite where they pay you to visit their site.

The discovery of the real reason for the extinction of dinosaurs. Boy, were the scientist's off the mark so far.

[A long long joke list of a whole lot of other stuff]
.
.
.
And finally, you missed the most dynamic non-cinematic, email-based endgame scenario in a game expansion pack developed in Canada.
--------

A whole lot longer and more kickass than the "real" ending.

You must have used a lot of time playing that game loading and saving for every corner. How did you ever manage? and that only with 1-2 mercs???

Your mercs go up levels REALLY fast when you don't have many. I tried a solo game a while back and my guy was level 9 about half way through with a 100 marksmenship. A level 10 merc with good physical stats is just not going to get interrupted very often, if ever.

aha, so thats the trick, hmm.. At the moment I am trying ot Bears mod on UB, and have 8 mercs, the battles is kind of hard, so what happens when only having 1, does the numbers of enemies go down or just the difficulity, right now my diff lvl. before starting the game was set to Experienced.
