We have found a serious bug in multiplayer, which was introduced with the latest version of JA2 1.13 (7435/7609).
Reading in the changelog for the latest update the following "Multiplayer: Fixed endless clock on enemy interrupt on the server." I would assume that this is related to the problem.
I can confirm that the AI does not get stuck anymore, however, the game gets stuck in a scenario, which seems to have to do with "Interrupts". The following happened to a friend of mine and me in most of the matches we played recently with the new version:
Config:
My friend is host, I'm client, Game mode "Co-Operative", 2 Players, 2 Mercs, Time of turns is set to "never", Skill traits "New", Items/Inventory "New/New", Civilians "on"
Description:
While the AI makes its turn and I get an interrupt, I do still see that the AI is turning. My mate actually sees me having the turn and the interrupt. When pressing "ALT + E" nothing happens - the turn is not passed to a next player but in the log at the bottom left you see some text saying that the turn is skipped. At this point the game is completely stuck and we have to kill the process of JA2 and restart the whole game.

Me and my friend played a few MP coop and deathmach games and we noticed when a client gets two interrupts or at least when text is diplayed two times, we both (host and client) get timer icon and cannot do anything. ALT+E and giving a turn to client doesnt help. If the same situation happens to a host player, a host can give turn via ALT+E to himself and playing continues. We both use latest official 1.13 pack and a official patch for it. Sorry for my bad english. This situations happens in deathmatch and coop.

Hello all!
I can confirm this bug happens quite often for me, exactly as described by all others above.
Here is a screenshot, featuring the doubled message symptom: idstudio.art.br/roy/interrupt_bug.JPG
Thanks in advance to anyone who can fix this.

This is such a huge shame - even though this game has such an enthusiastic fan-base who really loves the game and 1.13, it just feels pointless to try to bring in friends and new players into the fray when horribly game-breaking bugs such as these go unfixed even after several reports and SEVEN MONTHS apart. I don't blame the developers for not caring anymore, especially when it's such a groundbreaking mod like 1.13, but I have to beg: Online co-op is currently unplayable; it has been so for months now. Multiplayer is a big hook to get new players into the franchise and now that's gone. Would it be really that difficult to just rollback that part of the netcode to a previous version where the ALT+E workaround worked so that at least people can play the game?
Thanks in advance. Tt would be terrible to see the JA2 MP community die off just because of such a silly bug, especially after so much effort has been put into it.

Thank you very much - I will round up as many people as I can and test it as extensively as possible. Is there a preferred method for me to deliver these results or will this thread do?

Just finished first session of tests. 2 rounds with 4 players, lots of enemies and no civilians. As per usual, eventually the AI gets an interrupt on a Player A and he/she may not move until the AI is finished - all other players still see it as being Player A's turn. This time however a warning appeared advising the server host to press ALT+E in case the AI got stuck; upon doing that a prompt asking whose turn was previously appeared, the hosting player chose Player A and he/she could resume the turn, except all Mercs had their APs replenished.
Other bugs we've noticed:
- Sometimes when a Merc is healing someone, the sound of walking will keep playing on loop until that Merc moves again.
- When ordering from Bobby Ray, some new players would scroll the order location on the form, and that would cause their game to crash.
- This one was similar to the pretty similar to the interrupt one: while playing in Deidranna's castle in Meduna, one of the enemies tripped a mine which made the hand-watch appear while the animation was on. Afterwards it was my turn, but the hand-watch wouldn't go away and even if the server passed the turn, he could only pass it to me and I would still be stuck with the hand-watch, which effectively spelled a game over after a long time of preparing for the mission.
In short, it's all working as intended with no problems. People really wish there was the possibility to have more players connected or save your gear, but considering the limitations everyone had a great time.

Hello everybody,
I know this thread has been dead a while. We just tried the multiplayer for the first time and get the same bug as well. Has there been any solution to it in the meantime?
Edit: I have to generalise the question since we proceeded a little bit by researching the forums.
We haven been experimenting with the latest SCI where we often have problems in the Multiplayer Screen. The join button is unresponsive most of the time. Either nothing happens at all or the screen goes black (except for the buttons) and you have to press "exit" to get back to the menu.
Our latest try is to use the exe file JA2MPCUSTOM.exe from RunAwayScientist.
But it was build for an older version of the game directory (Game Directory 2340) which is not available any more. We haven't tried that one yet.
Is there any way as of now to get a rather stable multiplayer?
Edit 2: Maybe a headsup for anyone else who tries to find a workable solution: We had the best exerience combining an old Game Directory (the oldest SCI build from Depri's V1.13 Builds on onedrive, Game Dir 2352, Rev 8351 from 1st of January 2017) and JA2MPCuSTOM.exe from RunAwayScientist. Savegames don't seem to work but apart from that it is quite stable.
Both threads with links to the files can be easily found on the main page (Depri's V1.13 Builds) and in the multiplayer subsection of this forum in the [Custom.exe]... thread.
Thanks for modding, guys, although I'm a bit disappointed that nobody helped.

Hi haydent. Did you have any luck with the stable release?
Our version works fine for an hour or so, then it starts lagging extremely on the server. Also, savegames don't work properly.

Would be great if Multiplayer is getting in a playable state again. Btw are there any 1.13 versions that are not affected by the said issue above? Can someone provide a link?
